The Mirror Image

“A Man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.”– Mark Twain

When we look at our self in the mirror what do we see? Usually the negative aspects that we would like to change like our facial features or body shape etc. It is the result of cultural conditioning and comparing that has gone on for years. From the day we are born we are subject to messages from the outside world. The positive ones uplift us and the negative ones have an effect on us that keep us working towards unattainable perfection, which we think we need to have through external approval. All this action is based on the vibrational state of lack…of externalisation. As long as we generate this energy of lack, however much we work towards improvement, we will always view ourselves as incomplete. This desire only serves its purpose until we recognise that there is no lack and we are born worthy and whole.

What we really see is not who we really are. We are all extensions of the Source of Creation and therefore complete within. To recognise this we must work towards creating from a place of wholeness and knowing. This means we have to learn to love and accept ourselves as we are, with our physical imperfections and negative aspects.

Coming from a place of oneness we can only reflect our mirror image to another. What we see in ourself, we see in another. How attracted are we to our self? If someone holds up a mirror to us, reflecting our deepest beliefs, would we honestly say we’d be attracted to us? What we project as our wishes and fantasies upon another cannot return as a reflection if we don’t embody the resonance of what it is that we desire.

Consider the following examples:

  • We believe we are unattractive, and desire beauty.
  • We believe we are not so smart, and desire someone smart to be attracted to us.
  • We believe we are poor and desire more wealth.
  • and the list goes on….

Searching for anything or anyone from a consciousness of emptiness, lack and need only draws more of the same into our reality. Addressing the painful, lack- based, fearful parts within our self allows for inner healing as contrast helps us to grow making us aware of what we desire. This also gives us an opportunity to recognise our wholeness so we can manifest circumstances and relationships that mirror our positive aspects. The challenge is to focus on the desire and be grateful for our negative experiences that helped us grow. In this process of shifting our awareness we not only attract our desires but also experience the unity with the Source finally finding peace within.

Imagine the effects on the world around us as we mirror this image to others!
